UK Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT)

Effective April 2022, a tax of £210.82 per tonne (2023/24 rate) applies to plastic packaging manufactured in, or imported into the UK, that does not contain at least 30% recycled plastic.

EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)

A sweeping overhaul aimed at reducing packaging waste by 15% by 2040. Mandates that all packaging on the EU market must be recyclable by design by 2030, and recycled at scale by 2035.

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)

EPR schemes shift the cost of collecting, sorting, and recycling packaging waste onto the producers. Eco-modulation means you pay higher fees for packaging that is difficult to recycle.
